The Workshop on Games, Slovenia November 2006

The Slovenia Workshop was an opportunity for the whole eMapps.com team of partners to meet, review progress, share experiences, raise issues and make decisions about the next steps to be taken to move forward the design and creation of the eMapps.com games.

Each team was able to present their games design and to give both formal and informal
feedback to their partner schools, which provided a useful exchange of ideas.

2 rounds of direct talks with the partners were carried out to clarify technical and game play doubts.

The Workshop also gave the core team an opportunity to talk informally with teachers, technicians and country co-ordinators. This informal, face-to-face discussion helped to clarify many small but important issues. For example it helped ensure that team members reached a common understanding of points of games design and of the implementation and use of the handheld devices, and teachers were able to raise with the MMU evaluator their concerns about how games design might impact upon their pedagogic intentions. Such informal contact also helps to foster good relationships between such geographically separate teams of partners.

The Workshop took place in excellent modern facilities provided by the University of Ljubljana, who we thank for their hospitality.
